The Digest (John 17)

 I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.(NKJV)

Recently we did a Digest on a verse and  we drew down the whole chapter because it said  it all🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Beloved, today is no different. What’s important is the version which is the NEW LIVING TRANSLATION. Start falling in love  because I have already🥰. This version  is so succinct without any adulteration.

And so from John 17:4 it takes us to John 17:1-17(NLT)- A Prayer by Jesus to God About US.

_17 After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so he can give glory back to you. 2 For you have given him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one you have given him. 3 And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.

_4 I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. 5 Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began.6 “I have revealed you to the ones you gave me from this world. They were always yours. You gave them to me, and they have kept your word.

_7 Now they know that everything I have is a gift from you, 8 for I have passed on to them the message you gave me. They accepted it and know that I came from you, and they believe you sent me. 9 “My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you. 10 All who are mine belong to you, and you have given them to me, so they bring me glory.

_11 Now I am departing from the world; they are staying in this world, but I am coming to you. Holy Father, you have given me your name;now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be united just as we are. 12 During my time here, I protected them by the power of the name you gave me.I guarded them so that not one was lost, except the one headed for destruction, as the Scriptures foretold.13 “Now I am coming to you. I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy.

_14 I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. 15 I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. 16 They do not belong to this world any more than I do. 17 Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.🥰❣️💫✨

*Reading this meditatively, I feel loved, comforted, encouraged and spirited up to continue to do this life knowing who’s solidly behind me irrespective of all that we face.

*Above all, after it is all said and done, let v.4 be our words too- ‘I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.’*

*How To Attract His #GLORY*(intro)

Psalm 27:4 (NIV): "One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.

Attracing his Glory, Revealing His Glory,Manifesting His Glory… all tie together

Even for the least of all ‘glories’,  it will amaze you to know how people will die for such.

_The other day I was thinking of what at all Mr.Sanballat and Tobiah were looking for..(Is it not little glory/favour with the king?)

Therefore, how much more that of the  Most High GOD?…

You know what the media, social media especially has done. It has exposed our truest and our unstoppable  quest for anything ‘glory’ in the full glare of the whole world. Of course, we knew a lot of things were done in secret and even if you wanted to be brave about it and show it to the world a few while back, you’d need a traditional media which was(is) duty bound to sift through.

Today, with your phone right in front of you, which is your full  media acesss to the world,  People have “unapologetically”  shown  us that they’ll  do anything and everything to get whatever ‘glory’ that is there.

Let’s get the ‘glory’ whether from wherever, GET THE GLORY FIRST AND LET’S TALK THE OUTCOMES AND REPERCUSSIONS LATER ON PLEASE….WHO CARES?🧐🤨

Before we  delve deeper into what you’d expect the pointers and guide to be about our topic; we want to ask- Dear Christians:

What Happens When his Glory Comes Down?…(Intro)

There shall speak of the Glory of  your kingdom and talk of your power; to make known to the sons of men your mighty acts and the glory of the majesty of your kingdom.( Psalm 145:11-12)

There is always  that ‘something’ that happens when God, his Spirit-His #GLORY falls…

When we do say-You will never be the same when you meet or encounter God;  it is true, it works and becomes evident for all to see whether now or with time.

We will do a glimpse of what happens and later follow suit with elaborate details 

When the GLORY of GOD comes down…..

*Hearts are filled with the Tangible manifestation of God’s Presence and Power

*People encounter God in a different light as seen/evidenced 

*There is a MOVE in the atmosphere, vicinity, region and countries (all in order to fulfill divine mandate)

Moses could no longer enter the Tabernacle because the cloud had settled down over it, and the glory of the lord filled the Tabernacle. Exodus 40:35 (v.35-38)

*Hearts are Touched and Souls are Won.

*Empowerment and Emboldened for his work.

*Transformation -Change in the Lives of People (in all aspects albeit diverse)

Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting…And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability. Acts 2:2&4

*The  Lord’s Visitations upon his People(including Speaking& interacting with them)

*Sign and Wonders of what’s to come.

*Humbling of our Human Pride, Ego and self-beliefs

*Beauty, Holiness,Sanctity, Orderliness, Radiance, Favour,Aura, Anointing, Excellence, ‘Perfection’ and all that Glory carries along with.

These and so much more  happens when the Glory of God comes.

For the Original to anything, there is a fake to it. The Devil is able to model his signs and many outcomes similar to that God and same applies  with the ‘Glorious’ things of GOD.

In the coming weeks, as we make time to go into them, we will flip the coin to bring out its fake side and most importantly  how to identify as the Spirit leads us.

The Temple was filled with smoke from God’s glory and power. No one could enter the Temple until the seven angels had completed pouring out the seven plagues. Revelation 15:8

Still in a bit of the Love zone but this time relating it to the Glory.And this one got my attention greatly.

A thought on it and the simple question is why did he use what we eat and drink?… because that is the commonest of things to us as humans. It is so close to home sitting right under the eyes and nose.

Therefore, if he is concerned about that and want you to honor him with even those minutest things, how much more the very big ones.*

Is there Beauty ,Radiance and that Fragrance in your relationship???…

 

In dealing with the intro phases of our Glory theme few weeks back, elements like Beauty, radiance, light and stars featured greatly.

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. (Heb 1:3)

Psalm 96:6: “Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

A Captivating Look
An illuminating sparkle
An irresistible smell
( These phrases caught your attention asking yourself who or what are we talking about)

Today, we won’t ask the questions or situate the discussion from the negative standpoint rather the positive.

*Imagine a relationship where the thought just the mere thought of each other is ENOUGH to make wonna do, stop, want to to fight, not give up

*Imagine a relationship where your (godly) conviction of what you see in him, the Grace and Light upon his/her life, what his/her future portends , what you have practically witnessed from your intimate talk sessions make you want to stay, work it out, go on to bring all that to fruition and forever do life together.

*Imagine where we(BOTH) desire, want to, make the effort and do all the DUE Spiritual and Physical part needed to enter with a mentality of a Forever affair, fixing it and make it work, we’re in it forever. And so we will always do the needfuls by avoiding, learning, curing, forgiving, unlearning, changing, relearning, giving it another chance.

And so we were not there when they met and all in between. Well, until they formally outdoored it…Years on, we are still not in their secret places & what they do behind the scenes yet…..

*You see them and truly you see that glow, bliss, beauty, warmth, peace, chemistry, radiance, light, purity,admiration and above all LOVE drawn all over that union ( making you also desire to be)

Beloved, in this era of washing the dirty linen of relationship and marriage issues all over; WE ALSO SEE THE VERY BEAUTIFUL, RADIANT AND FRAGRANT ALL OVER TOO. ( They are not bad news and so they may not sell but they’re all over. #Otuosquotes)

Oh I even saw one today as I stepped out

Beloved, Every Glorious Relationship is Christ-centered and if it is then we must rinse and renew our minds from the world’s contoured views on marriage and fully embrace and live out (these ) his Word’s original and wholesome blueprint.

*Is there Purpose, Growth and Transformation in your Relationships?*

The Glory of God doesn’t operate in a vacuum. It is not given just for the sake of it. It is definitely for a Purpose.

As treated few weeks ago, the Purpose of God’s Glory is to show who he is, clear any doubt whatsoever,  live  fully in his glory as man and ultimately draw Peeple to saving knowledge .(_Isaiah 43:7, 1Cor.10:31, Psalm 19:1 &more)_

I love a place called Forward….(Who doesn’t….)

Not only do People change Relationships when they belief it’s not aligning with their ultimate goal. There are job change too. Career Advancement, Better Salary Offer and the Pride and Prestige are some of the chief reasons.

There’s a Purpose to and  for every Relationship. There was what she first imagined when she saw you. There’s a Reason why she chose you and not the other suitable candidates. There’s a future he imagined as Life with you when he mustered that courage to approach you.

There was something new, different and refreshing when he accepted to  be with you. There are things she’s hoping never recur based on past experiences.

*And so why are you losing yourself, totally bottled up and have been cowered into just living and being… all because of a certain desired Relationship

*Why can’t we recognise you anymore even physically not to talk about deep within.  (sadly when it  hasn’t fully metamorphosed into marriage)

*Wny can’t she pursue her dreams anymore?….. Why is your attitude and the weight of it  inhibiting him from being the man he’s  supposed to be?….Why does she  have to live in your shadows..surrender her desires  and longings  just because you Lord your lordship over almost everything. (Set in your old primitive  ways/ beliefs.

*Lastly, why  are you now stuck, uninspiring, no passion, only existing and virtually useless in your new found ‘Glorious ‘Relationship which is contributing nothing  to this.

Beloved, Evey Glorious Relationship (platonic,intimate ,professional….) with Christ at the center seeks to  build, raise, sharpen & support each other  toward attaining a common goal of  being beneficial  not only to themselves but beyond.

_Your glory isn’t just honor or blessings. It points to a purpose that reaches beyond you._

Today, so many Couples are bracing the odds. This today’s world is so fast paced  and highly demanding. The children are no longer an obstacle, their jobs no restraints at all, the stereotyped society brushed off, even age is put aside all because they’ve  liberated their minds from certain primitive mindset that only limited their capacity.

It is  extremely daunting but so  so possible. Examples abound- Married yet pursuing  courses & degrees while 

 being that submissive  wife, turning their childhood passion into a ful time job while not neglecting  their home, making  their hobbies into side hustle  to  financially support the home as needed; practically making a name and impact out there with their talent, skill  while being a loving husband and submissive wife. 

Above all, finding contentment and fulfillment in themselves for LIVING  and making an impacting  to humanity and to the kingdom of God.( MANY MANY are  just suffocating in Relationships because they’re not allowed to BE)

These biblical cues to all those Relationships in this context

_Romans 12:2-“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”_

_Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire Matt 7.19_ (*Every Relationship that does not have  a future, aim or purpose…..*)

How Good and pleasant it is that partners/ couples always seek to explore a  place called FORWARD where TOGETHER AS ONE, they can  grow, mature and be more impactful at all times. (Psalm 133)

Does Your Relationship “Weigh” you Spiritually,Physically,Emotionally,Psychologically et al….??*

 The Glory of God is an All Rounder. It shines through every area of our lives.

Drawing from these two verses in 3 John 1 and 1Peter 4.11 

_That in all things we will prosper and do well…..in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever.

We learnt about the Weight of God’s Glory and how although heavy when it comes on us and in our situations, our burdens and yoke are ~made lighter~  lifted because a heavy price has been paid.

”Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matt.‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬, ‭30‬.

There is a Weight to every Relationship. There is a Price to pay for and on every Relationship we get into.

The Relationship if properly  grounded in Christ simply means we pay the price together, share the burdens  together, together we lift the loads that weigh us down so we will be free.

And so why does it look like a one-sided relationship?….Why  does it look like everything rest on your shoulders?…You’re carrying what you call a Relationship. Without you, there is none.

Why does the Relationship come ALIVE when that one party is in need…need your help, need your moral support, need your technical expertise, need your physical touch, need your  financial assistance but it all whittle away when it’s your turn??…

Are you drained… Are you weighed down physically and psychologically??

Again, why are you so  insecure about that  supposed ‘Glorious’ Relationship  you hold in high esteem?…. Why does a small trigger or flip  from his/her side  make you so emotionally unstable just upon the thought  of losing the person?

Lastly, Is the Relationship weighing you down Spiritually - Your prayer & devotional life?…. Is it  making you defile your body which is the temple of God, Sexual immorality  which you once frowned upon is becoming normal all because of keeping a ‘Certain Relationship’. And in all of these your  conscience and his Spirit within keeps pricking you so hard?….

Beloved, Every Glorious Relationship(_platonic, Intimate,professionals  and more_) which is Christ-centered should check how it weighs in all these areas with the crux of it all being Spiritual.

If above all things, that Relationship is weakening you SPIRITUALLY instead of making you, in fact  both of you better and richer in the Lord. Then,  that is your cork certainty.

Like a measuring scale, there is a ‘weight’ to every Relationship. What’s yours?…. Does it weigh on you Positively or Negatively?

Proverbs 11:1: "Dishonest scales are an abomination to the LORD, but an accurate weight is His delight".

Proverbs 16:11: "Honest scales and balances are from the LORD; all the weights in the bag are His concern".

Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.

Thinking about it:
How can I owe you Your Faith, Belief, Trust, Hope, Wealth, Confidence,Beauty…[Help me mention more….]

-Your Faith?…I don’t give it….He does.(Roman 12:3- …Each according to the measure of faith God gives..

-Your Belief?….I don’t determine that….He does…making one wonder because our setting can determine our beliefs.(John 16:33)

-Your Beauty/Looks?- Can I be very abrupt- “Menbɔ Nipa oo”  to wit ‘I don’t create human being oo’ so how do i know. Our best option is beauty enhancements/make-ups.

-Your Wealth?….I need Some myself oo….”But Remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth..”(Deut 8.18)

The best way in all of these is to HELP you there, LEAD you there, POINT you there….

And that is what LOVE is all about. To be able to do it and do it well with all the wahala it comes with, it must flow form the source-GOD himself who is Love(1John4:8)

All these should help when he says in his word – The Greatest commandment of all is LOVE- Love God first and Love your neighbour as yourself. Do this as should and you have fufilled all the laws.

And that is your #DIGEST.

Is one seeking all the  #Glory in that Relationship Instead of ~showing~ proving the Love?…

*Is it more of the Recognition,Fame, Praises and Grand Gestures(That #GLORY) instead of the Sacrifice, Commitment, Servitude and Selflessness that #LOVE requires*

Is that one too A Glorious Relationship???…🤷‍♂️

Some of the things that come to mind when #Glory is mentioned are #Honour, #Respect  and #Dignity.

Together they make a #Glorious Relationship with God, with one another and with  that Siginificant Other.

A look in the mirror never deceives. (James 1:23-25)

For everyone  of us, we know where we stand with a lot of people in our lives. 

Those who Respect us, Look down on us, Hold us in very high esteem, those who are lukewarm towards us and those who we are not so sure of because….

Beloved, whatever will make you not to be sure about how someone values you in any serious (committed) relationship is enough red flag 🚩 on its own.

*Do your Views matter?….Are they carefully  considered?….Are you made to feel and believe that they do?…Is it a regular pattern in the relationship???

*Is he always the domineering force  who wants to take charge & exert control all in the name of masculinity?…….or Is she one who fakes submission outside but a totally different beast inside and vice versa??

*Are you a key stakeholder in very crucial important decisions in thier lives?…(They might not be able to share it all,but their engagements show how they value you and your mind)

*Verbal Abuse at the slightest reveals who they are and their perception of you especially when it’s recurrent. Hmm, Physical Abuse and the forms of it are the very least to say.

And so staying in a dishonorable  relationship  is not only suffocating but breeds deep seated hurt and contempt  only waiting to explode.

In sum, Respect in every Relationship is dependent  on how we treat and value each other’s feelings, thoughts, boundaries,differences and total being all in how God & his Word says we should.

And he simply says- In all Sincerity, Treat/Do unto others as you would want them to do to you. (Luke 6:31)

Every Glorious Relationship(_platonic, Intimate,professional  and more_) which is Christ centered thrives with  this godly principle  at the center.

And so let’s get back into looking into the mirror- “_Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like…_(James 1:23-)

The DIGEST (Glory Complement)

 On #Digest  today is John 17:22.

It is an interesting one…you know why because digesting Verses like this means you’d have to start from the whole chapter and going through it, it explains everything i had in mind..of course, it is the WORD OF GOD so no wonder.

It’s the New Living Translation and I love every bit of it…PLEASE  PAY ATTENTION TO EVERY LINE AND LET IT SPEAK to you…..

John 17(The PRAYER OF JESUS)…

1After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so he can give glory back to you. 2 For you have given him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one you have given him. 3 And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.

4 I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. 5 Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began. 6 “I have revealed you to the ones you gave me from this world. They were always yours. You gave them to me, and they have kept your word.

*The Purpose of his #GLORY*

Beloved, at the end of the day, it’s important  we know and understand where this is going.  The Glory of God  itself and that he puts on your head. What’s it for?…..#Purpose

*It wasn’t given JUST to make you look honourable,gracious, priviledged and to be receiving compliments all over.

*It’s not just to bless our lives materially.

*It’s not JUST meant for you, your family or those around you.(_i.e your Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria but includes the ends of the earth )_

*There’s a public Good to it and that’s to bring many others to God’s saving knowledge and be in total worship forever.

ULTIMATE PURPOSE OF GOD’s GLORY ITSELF:

“The purpose of God's glory is to display His infinite beauty, greatness, and perfect character (holiness, goodness, power) for humanity and creation to behold, know, and worship, driving all of existence and action, from CREATION to SALVATION, ultimately to reveal His SUPREME WORTH and draw people into (ETERNAL) RELATIONSHIP with Him.”

CLEAR ANY DOUBT WHATSOEVER…

“It's the visible manifestation of His divine essence, a standard that puts human pride (doubt or misconceptions about the creator) to shame and inspires awe, transforming those who see it.”

TO LIVE OUT HIS GLORY FULLY AS HUMANS….

“Humans were created to glorify God, reflecting His image and finding their ultimate fulfillment in experiencing and magnifying His glory._”

Jesus' primary purpose was to bring glory to God through His life, death, and resurrection. One that benefits the whole of mankind here on earth and in heaven. (And this is where we all draw our Purpose)

Our Glory has Purpose. May we live it fully to the glory of our maker. May God help us all.
