The Glory of Man v. The Glory of God (The Glory Tussle(Debate)*

(Man’s Glory v. God’s Glory)*

John 12:42-43

_Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue; *for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God._

A  precursor to this message had these pointers-

*Is there even a Debate?….

*Is there even a tussle?…

*Do they Clash?….

*Why Should it be Discussed?…

*Ain’t we afraid even?….

*What’s IN IT then??…. 

I am sure these and more were your thoughts the moment i raised this topic.

Who am I?…..Who am I to rival this BIG GOD ?….The one who  made and created me?….Eeeeii

*Beloved, as quickly and innocently as we are, to raise those hands, I am here to tell you WE DO….WE CLASH with HIM at all times?….The Tussle is ongoing as we speak.*

So Yes…..Unconsciously, Unwittingly, and Unknowingly we compete with God with his Glory not with our lips but in our hearts and with our continuous deeds.

How?…



The tension between the glories is a fundamental Spiritual conflict. One that will forever linger because it is a matter of the flesh and Spirit.

_The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. *These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions._* (Galatians 5:17)

*Of course, we know God, our  source, the source of life. We know he’s the giver of all things but at a point….those crucial points…those over delayed times when ‘the glories’ we so desire keep eluding us, when we’re  fast becoming a mockery and the World is leaving us behind then….

Then…that is where the tussle begins all owing to our Human fleshly nature. And so We 

 succumb to the human nature, to its dubious ways, to its corrupt ways, to its evil ways finding all the perfect excuses to explain it away. At a point, we ‘just don’t care’ about the means after all it is yielding ‘the results’  which humans including the church adores and so what then?….

More so, it is not like we won’t ‘worship’ him again…

BUT The truth is we only continue to remain religious but not the real Christians God requires of us.

In brief, we see that what brings about the tussle is basically the human fleshly nature- owing to our strong pursuit of the Pride of life regardless of its means-temporary, quick fixes& shortcuts AND the  fear of our fellow man in authority which seem to have toppled that of God.

And so while as humans we continue to seek after the Recognition, Honour,Power, Control, Money, Wealth, Fame for our self glorification, the intention of God in all these is to ultimately use them to glorify his name. After that, any  other thing including all the other glories we so yearn for will be added to us..

This brings the tussle(debate) between Man’s Glory and that of GOD.

Always Remember what the Bible says: 

A student can’t be greater than the Teacher and here we mean the created can never be greater than the creator and the clay than the porter. You’d always have to submit to its authority.
